The Equipment:

I don’t see the need to keep a tally of all the equipment I use, but I do use mostly Canon cameras and lenses.

The Photographer

I’m currently 16 17 years old and live in San Clemente, California. I started photography when I was 8 when my mom bought me a small 101 Dalmatians Kodak camera which used 110 film. This was my first camera and sparked my love for photography. Many years later my Dad bought me my first digital camera, an Ixla Digital superpro 640. This was my first introduction to the world of digital photography. The camera was very basic as digital photography was just emerging at the time but it helped me continue to develop my love for photography. A few years later I purchased my very own 1 megapixle digital camera (an Olympus) which I began to use almost daily. Eventually I upgraded to an even nicer Nikon 8800 which helped me take some of the pictures that you see in the galleries. I bought my first SLR in 2006 and use it as much as I can. I primarily like to photograph landscapes, with and without the human element. I also enjoy photojournalism and photographing action sports.

The Images

Unless otherwise indicated, no significant subject matter in the Khristian Snyder Photography collection has been added or removed using digital processes. With the very rare exception of an occasional minimal artistic liberty, the photos within the Khristian Snyder collection have not been "altered", "doctored", "artificially enhanced", "manipulated", or "exaggerated." The photos are accurate representations of unusual and beautiful moments of reality witnessed and express how the scene felt at the time.

When digital adjustments or color corrections are made, it is limited to the fine tuning of exposure, color, and or tone. These adjustments are necessary due to the inability of digital cameras to capture a scene as humans see them. Although the highest quality digital cameras are used to capture these images, no image in the Khristian Snyder Photography collection is computer generated, or artificially contrived!

With the exception of an occasional use of a polarizer filter (to reduce surface glare on water) no filters are ever used. These images are strictly about light. The unusual dramatic lighting effects in the collection are captured by countless trips to a location, very rare lighting conditions, painstaking patience (sometimes years targeting a single location) hundreds of images taken, high end equipment, long exposure techniques, low ISO, and meticulous professional digital darkroom interpretation / processing skills.

Occasionally images will be digitally processed to give a creative artistic effect to a scene and to enhance the reality. Such images will be clearly captioned that they have gone through such a process.
